artist of the month –
stephanie vale

This month we welcome a new artist to our Cafe gallery (upstairs in the Cafe), Stephane has a passion for art and illustration and we spoke to her to learn more about her background and journey.

Tell us a bit more about you, what you do and your story…

Art and illustration have always been an important aspect in my life and has been for as long as I can remember. I am a Wife, a mum (to our four-year-old daughter) and work full time as a Buyer/New Product Developer for a fragrance company. I have been very lucky to be able to combine my love for both art/illustration and product development throughout my career and in recent years have found myself slowly building up a new, fresh portfolio. This is because I love to do it. Everything you see has been created by me with passion, care and vision.

Where are you based?

I’m based in Essex.

How long have you been working with artistic medias?

I work across a variety of media and have done so for as long as I can remember. I knew from an early age I wanted to create art with a purpose.

What;’s your favourite material?

This is a really hard question to answer as I love working with such a variety of materials, you will see from the pieces on show I use acrylic pant, oil pastel, watercolour and pencils.

What’s your inspiration?

Nature and colour, I love to re-create florals and botanical designs from my own perspective and also include hints of colour. I love the idea of colour therapy and how such an eclectic mix of tones can evoke moods, feelings and thoughts. Colours can also be very nostalgic, for example, turqoise blue and burnt orange aways reminds me of my holidays as a child and brings a sense of calm and happiness.

What are your favourite topics/areas to cover?

Florals, because of the endless mix of colours and styles I can create.

Where can people purchase your work?

Follow me on instagram at ‘Flowerhouseprints’ and find me on Facebook ‘Flower House Prints’. Whilst my website is being re-built www.flowerhouseprints.com you can message me on these platforms or email on flowerhouseprints@outlook.com For the exhibition, these prices are exclusive to Suffolk Food Hall but more details shall follow.

What are your goals for the future?

Throughout my career, I have always worked in Buying and Developing for gifts, clothing and currently in fragrance. I am so thankful for the experience I have gained and hope one day I can have a cmmercial range or brand of products with my designs, including homeware, gifts, candles, accesories, fragrance and stationery.

You can find Stephanie’s work upstairs in our Café until the 10th of February.

If you like anything you see it can be purchased by taking the piece to the tills.
