or Inside

with our famous Puzzle Room
you’ll have lots of fun following clues

BOUNCY PILLOW

Last year saw added bounce for our play area, with the installation of a brand new bouncy pillow to replace the well-worn original.

Free for use to our diners at either the Café or Cookhouse restaurant, it sits at the heart of the paddocks overlooking the Orwell, with fresh air and space a plenty for kids to enjoy the countryside in a safe environment.

ICE CREAM

For the parents with slightly less energy to keep pace with the kids, there is an outside seating area from which to simply watch. Through the spring, summer and autumn seasons our ice cream hut will open its hatch for a real treat after school.

OUTSIDE

Get outside and active with the kids, take full advantage of the area of outstanding natural beauty Suffolk Food Hall sits in, enjoy the circular routes created, or wander and create your own. We welcome bikes and well behaved dogs too, so it really can be a family day out.

Walk the Wherstead Explorer or bike around Alton Water.

INSIDE

Suffolk’s very first Puzzle Room is perfect for the family, for ages 9 upwards, head back in time and work as a team, utilising the skills and eagerness of youth, with the wisdom and experience of age. Set in Edwardian times, Lord Wilkinson wants to ransack the R & W Paul dockyard and find clues to snare a suspected rogue. A unique and fun experience. The Puzzle Room is perfect for parties, and with prior arrangement can be tailored working to make it personal and that little bit extra special.

Our Farm

Whilst being home to the Food Hall, we are also a working farm. We’ve revived our herd of Red Poll cow that we cross with an Aberdeen Angus bull, which are often in the paddocks in front of the Cookhouse and we’re delighted to show them off.

The old Granary Barn behind the Food Hall has been converted into a contemporary ‘well being’ studio.

CRAFT & CERAMICS

Now of course we do live in sunny Suffolk, and whilst ever optimistic about the weather, rain is inevitable. Fear not, visit Starglazing Ceramics upstairs in the Food Hall and get creative with crockery. Dulcie is on-site from Tuesday-Saturday, ready to help with creating one-offs and developing skills for the creatives amongst us all, big and small.

Private Functions

Our private dining room, Feast, as well as our Auditorium and in fact the whole Cookhouse are often hired for private parties; from children’s entertainers to gala birthday parties.  Email the Events team with your idea and we’ll make some suggestions.
